چکیده

The exact semiclassical wave function for a tunneling electron, coupled to the degrees of freedom of the host medium, is constructed. In our derivation the tunneling path is divided into an infinite set of infinitezimal segments and the decaying solutions of the stationary Shrödinger equations are matched for each neighboring segment from the beginning to the end of the tunneling path. This solution is expressed as the integral over imaginary tunneling time τ’ (the time of classical motion in the inverted barrier)

Tunneling with the Lorentz Force and the Friction

We present a semiclassical study of a transport process, the tunneling, in the presence of a magnetic field and a dissipative environment. We have found that the problem can be mapped onto an effective one-dimensional one, and the tunneling rate is strongly affected by the magnetic field, such as a complete suppression by a large parallel magnetic field, an example of the dynamical localization...

Quantum tunneling in thermal medium Sh . Matsumoto 1 and M . Yoshimura 2 1 Theory Group , KEK Oho 1 - 1 Tsukuba Ibaraki 305 - 0801 Japan

Time evolution of tunneling phenomena in medium is studied using a standard model of environment interaction. A semiclassical formula valid at low, but finite temperatures is derived in the form of integral transform for the reduced Wigner function, and the tunneling probability in thermal medium is calculated for a general tunneling potential of one dimensional system. Effect of dissipation, i...

Forward–backward semiclassical dynamics in the interaction representation

The forward–backward semiclassical dynamics methodology @J. Phys. Chem. 103, 7753, 9479 ~1999!# is reformulated in the interaction representation. The new version of the method allows for a fully quantum mechanical description of a low-dimensional subsystem of interest, along with a semiclassical forward–backward treatment of the solvent coordinates and their coupling to the reference subsystem...

Current Transport in Nanoelectronic Semiconductor Devices

An overview of models used for the simulation of current transport in nanoelectronic devices within the framework of TCAD applications is presented. Modern enhancements of semiclassical transport models based on microscopic theories as well as quantum mechanical methods used to describe coherent and dissipative quantum transport are specifically addressed. This comprises the incorporation of qu...

Resonance Enhanced Tunneling

Time evolution of tunneling in thermal medium is examined using the real-time semiclassical formalism previously developed. Effect of anharmonic terms in the potential well is shown to give a new mechanism of resonance enhanced tunneling. If the friction from environment is small enough, this mechanism may give a very large enhancement for the tunneling rate. The case of the asymmetric wine bot...
